Why did we choose a star to represent our ethos?
Per aspera ad astra is a Latin phrase meaning “through hardships to the stars”. This age-old phrase is a reminder that even the most challenging journeys can lead us towards something extraordinary. This sentiment inspired our four-point star emblem in our logo; a visual representation of the four key principles we aim to embody within our ensemble.
Our 'north star' symbolises much more than just the music we create. The four points symbolise everything we do: the values that shape our sound, guide our decisions in music-making, and define the ensemble we aspire to become.
Our four principles are Collaboration, Community Engagement, Creativity, and Change.
These values reflect our belief in what music can achieve, both in and out of the concert hall. From bringing musicians together to share their passion for orchestral music to opening the doors of this artistic form to individuals from all walks of life, we strive for every endeavour to have a purpose.
We believe in celebrating the stories that music can tell, exploring the full breadth of what the orchestra can do, and using our music to create a positive impact in the communities around us. These four principles are more than mere phrases; they form the foundation of who we are, what we stand for, and the future we hope to cultivate.

Together, we create something extraordinary through a collaborative music ethos. We are an ensemble of individuals from all walks of life, united by a single goal of community engagement. Every individual brings their own voice, experience, and talent to our orchestral music.

Music belongs to everyone. We believe that orchestral music should embody a collaborative music ethos, ensuring it is accessible to people from all walks of life, regardless of their background, experience, or circumstances. By fostering community engagement, we aim to bring live orchestral music to a wider audience.

Every piece has a story to tell. We believe that every piece has a story waiting to be heard within our collaborative music ethos. Our aim is to explore orchestral music from a variety of styles and traditions; we hope to engage the community by sharing familiar pieces, introducing audiences to new compositions, and demonstrating just how varied and exciting orchestral music can be.

Creating orchestral music for a better tomorrow. We believe that music can embody a collaborative music ethos and serve as a force for good. Through community engagement initiatives, charitable fundraising, and inclusive performances, we aim to use our platform to unite musicians and audiences, fostering a positive and lasting impact.
